We have to be thankful for the UAE, aside from serving our second home away from home, is also at par with other countries when it comes to the number of public holidays which makes it more favorable to private sectors and alike. The second public holiday of the year is for the celebration of Isra and Mi’raj which marks the Prophet Mohammad’s journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and ascent into heaven, sometime around the year 621, according to Islamic belief. Since the UAE is mainly a muslim country, all expatriates and nationals are observing this holiday in respect to the country’s culture. However for us and our friends, this only calls for one thing— time for a road trip!
We packed our stuff Thursday afternoon and drove off to the path heading past Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. We’ve thought of going to that hidden beach that we have uncovered sometime last year whilst looking for a camp-out spot away from the UAE. We were not sure at first on how to locate the place as we did not save it on our phones however using some land marks (and my super human powers of geolocation) we were able to find the place in no time. It was already dark when we arrived and surprisingly there’s a group of military officers guarding the place as the surrounding area has been declared as a preserved archeological site. (Also the reason why we have chosen to keep it a secret atleast for now) We’ve set up our tents and enjoyed the night away with some BBQ’s and of course, booze.
The next morning was just indescribable. Just imagine the sun rising from the waters instead of setting down on it. It was spectacular and absolutely breath taking. We’ll let the photos speak for itself.

After camping out for a night, we headed for a road trip further south of Fujairah where we had a number of off the beaten path discoveries before returning to Dubai by sunset. (We will be having another post for that) See we’re not being selfish here, as we recognize that the place needs to be under the public radar for now as we acknowledge UAE’s plan on further protecting the area. We just hope that by sharing this to you guys we could encourage you to discover more of UAE’s unspoilt wonders that are just waiting to be explored around the corner.
After all, finding a hidden spot should always be for the benefit of those who finds it. 😛
